Ajuga reptans 'Atropurpurea' (Carpet Bugle) - spreads quickly by runners, making a mat of bronze-tinted green leaves. Needs regular water. Can handle sunny locations, but does best with some protection in hot, inland areas. Blue flower spikes in spring and early summer. Plant 12" apart in spring or early fall. Mow or trim off old flower spikes. Tolerates light foot traffic.
