Pyrus kawakammii
Pyrus kawakammii (Evergreen Pear) - Partially deciduous in coldest winters. Native to Taiwan. Quickly grows 15-30 ft. tall and wide, with drooping branchless and glossy green, oval leaves with pointed tips. Masses of flowers appear in winter and early spring. Small, inedible fruit. Naturally grows as a broad, sprawling shrub, but is most often grown as a single- or multi- trunked tree. Can also be espaliered. Prone to fireblight.
